Life Hacks for the Ladies
You may have already come across some of these life hacks on Pinterest, but there are enough new hacks included in this BuzzFeed article - 27 Life Hacks Every Girl Should Know - that I felt it worth sharing here. I'm off to paint my keys, freeze a few grapes, open a bottle of wine (so that I can use the cork, of course), and fire up my straightening iron.
Memories from the 1980's
A friend of mine from elementary school recently wrote this piece, in which she takes a nostalgic look back on the some of the goodies - think Trapper Keepers, Choose Your Own Adventure novels, and Popples - enjoyed by the children of the 1980's (of which I was one), for Chicago Now. If you lived through even a few years of 80's, you'll enjoy taking a walk down memory lane with her.
But there are a couple of things she forgot - anyone remember Nosy Bears, Garbage Pail Kids, and Caboodles?
I had the exact Caboodle pictured above, and I'd give just about anything to go back in time and not sell it at one of our garage sales. Just think of how awesome it'd look sitting on my bathroom counter.
Highlights from the 1990's
I may have been a (young) child of the 1980's, but I graduated from high school in the 1990's. I loved this reminder of what made headlines in the entertainment - television, movies, music, etc. - each year between 1990 and 2000. Though my graduation year revolved around George Clooney and Titanic, I held onto People Magazine's 1995 Sexiest Man Alive issue with Brad Pitt on the cover for quite a few years...
Red Cross: Moore Help is Needed
Like most Americans, I followed the news coverage of the storms in Moore, Oklahoma every day for nearly a week. And like most Americans, when the media started covering the "next big thing", I unintentionally forgot about Moore.
But when our summer travels led us directly through the destruction that just two months ago thrust Moore into the National spotlight, I learned that it's not yet time for us to move on. Read more about what the Red Cross has been doing in Moore, Oklahoma for the recovery process and how you can be a part of helping this town and the surrounding communities rebuild.
