High Five for Friday (4.29.22)

One

Last week Tom and I went on TWO dates: a lunch date to Mad Taco and a dinner date to the ISEN Department Gala. Though we've had plenty of at-home movie nights, gone on many long walks around our neighborhood, and made quite a few couples drives to Lowe's to buy more mulch, our last true date was pre-pandemic and on our anniversary in January 2020....so it was about time we started going out again. I sure do like staying in, but on occasion it's fun to change out of our athleisure wear (me) and tie dye shirts (him) in favor of a dress and suit.

With our friends Eric and Irma...this is the
only picture we took between the two dates. 😂

Two

My babies are getting so big! (Well, one of my babies is already really big, one of my babies is already big, and one of my babies is trying to get big.) These three are so sweet, all in different ways. I feel particularly attached to them given that we've had them for almost a month and how hard I've worked to help them grow from tiny rat babies into real live kittens. If you're local and want to come meet them, let me know!

The first time Adagio made it to the top of
their new (somewhat miniature) cat condo.

I mentioned last week how Adagio tells me he's done
eating by climbing in between my legs
. Bourree tells
me he's done eating by climbing on my back.

Every. Single. Time. I have the scratches to prove it...

Plie has needed lots of baths lately, and she likes
to snuggle up with us afterwards for warmth. Inside
Tom's sweatshirts might be her favorite place.

You can see how skinny (almost gaunt) her face
is here - she's rounding out much more nicely now!

After a week in the bathroom and two weeks enclosed
in the playroom, we're starting to let the babies out into
the rest of the house. Adagio went first (most in control
of his bowels), and he LOVED studying with Will.

Bourree went second (after proving he was fully in
control of his bowels as well), and while he didn't love
studying, he did love climbing all over everything.

Hopefully Plie's turn to experience the wonder that is Will's room is coming!

Three

Saturday included a difficult start - Morgan's Celebration of Life - but once we returned to College Station we tried to appreciate the day's activities and experiences in her honor and memory. In addition to a ballet rehearsal and pointe class, we had a fun (for daughters and moms) birthday party at Urban Air and an enjoyable evening watching older dance friends perform in the Strutters Spring Showcase.

Four

Will got his first disc golf ace! The course - in San Marcos - is set up kind of like miniature golf for disc golf, in that every hole is "gimmicky" (Tom's description), so Will sent me pictures "explaining" how it happened:

Teeing off.

The disc hit the ground at just the right spot so that
when it started rolling, it went up that narrow ramp...

...and had enough power to keep rolling up...

...until it shot off the end of the ramp...

...and into the basket!

My boys were THRILLED. It was an exciting accompishment for him!

Happiness Highlights

A couple of beautiful moments from Saturday morning...
If you look closely, you can see that every tree along the road to
the church and Morgan's elementary school wore a blue ribbon.

And after the celebration of life, they served her
favorite foods: hot dogs with ketchup, pickles...

...canned shoestring potato fries, Oreos, Skittles, and Cherry Coke.
These are some of my kids' favorites as well, as we had (and still have)
them often when Will was little because they're all allergy friendly.

Ferguson defied the odds and
made it to his first birthday.

I LOVE this picture of my parents and
my nephew, Carter, at his soccer game.

Happy weekend, friends!
