Last Friday I skipped over a High Five for Friday post in favor of celebrating my Ninja Warrior cousin, so this Friday I'm covering two weeks worth of high fives. Happy Friday, friends!
One
Will had an incredible time at camp. For those who might be curious, this was Will's second year attending Education in Action's week-long Lonestar Leadership Academy, which focuses on "Inspiring Tomorrow's Leaders" with a week of fun and engaging leadership activities, academic learning, and field trips to some of Texas' most unique and historic destinations. Last year in Dallas/Fort Worth, Will visited the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Fort Worth Stockyards, National Cowgirl Museum, Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, Perot Museum of Nature and Science, US Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Texas Rangers Ballpark, and more. This year in Austin/San Antonio, he visited the Alamo, Witte Museum, Meadows Center, Natural Bridge Caverns, Texas State Cemetery, Texas State Capitol and State Legislators' offices, LBJ Library and Museum, and more. Next year in Houston/Galveston will be his third and final summer attending camp, and while we'll be sad when he finishes the three-year program, we hope Hallie can start attending in the next year or two! (If you'd like more information about this incredible program for your kiddos, email me at erin@chasingroots.com.)

And then we all had a superb time celebrating Independence Day a few days early at the lake with friends.

Big group selfie...minus one. Javier, who is swimming
somewhere in the lake in the background, missed the photo. |

Next we headed far north to Minocqua, Wisconsin for a week of fun at the Lincoln Lodge.

Some of us played in the summer rains... |

...and some of us enjoyed the storm under the safety of the awning. |

Following our week of lake living, we zigzagged back and forth across both Wisconsin and Illinois for a bucket list excursion, to share a childhood experience of mine with the kids, to play with cousins, and to celebrate my dad's birthday.
|
A teaser...more to come in a separate post! |
|
Bay Beach is an amusement park in Green Bay that my grandparents used to take my sister and me to when we were little. |

So many fond - and one poor, of a bird pooping on my head 😂 - memories here. |

...and the bumper cars. This was Will's first time to drive bumper cars by himself. |

Outdoor picnic, because in Illinois we can go outside in the evenings without dying of heat! |
|
Lily's dance studio let Hallie attend two days of their mini dance intensive with Lily. |
Five
And now Tom and Will have flown back to College Station, where they're both working and playing. (More specifically, Tom is working in between shuttling Will to and from his allergist appointments, soccer camp sessions, safe sitter class, chess club gatherings, and Futsal game.) I don't love having my family separated by 1,000+ miles, but Hallie and I are enjoying our girl time with my mom and I know the boys are having a great time at home just the two of them (and Tux).
|
Tux missed Will SO much. |
|
He'll never let go... |
Happy Friday, Chasing Roots!
