High Five for Friday (3.18.22)

Anyone else need a longer spring break? I certainly do...

One
Hallie comes home from her trip to NYC today! We've missed her, and we can't wait to see her tonight. (More on her adventure in a future post, I promise!)

Two
I mentioned this briefly last week, but WOW, the trainers at Will's high school are rock stars. He's not 100% yet, but with daily treatments, they got him back on the field (taped and for light work only, of course) in less than a week. We still don't know if Will will play in another high school game this season, but considering that I thought he'd be fully out for weeks, the fact that he was able to join his teammates on the practice field again is a gift and I'm so grateful for the trainers' commitment to the athletes in their care.

Three
It's hard to swallow that Hallie's besties have now both turned 13...and that Hallie is about to turn 13 herself. At least the celebrations have been fun, and at least we actually get to have celebrations this year!

Our last outing before the world shut down was the girls' 11th birthday trip to IFLY and the Magical Unicorn Dessert Bar in Houston in 2020. Interestingly, we were supposed to visit these locations for the girls' 10th birthday celebration the year prior, but Hallie broke her wrist...and then after her wrist healed, we couldn't nail down a day when all three moms and all three girls were free until a full year later.

Four
Tom's dad came to visit us this week. It was great to see him for the first time since Thanksgiving, and he was a such a big help with a project that he and Tom started back in 2019 and then hadn't had an opportunity to finish because of the pandemic. (More on the project to come as well!)

Five
Happiness Highlights
Though "kitten season" is about to start, we've had a lull in our steady stream of kittens since Bill and Molly left. We've missed having little babies around, so when friends asked if we'd keep their kitty, Luna, while they traveled over spring break, I answered "YES. BRING HER TO ME." (though maybe not quite so forcefully, as I didn't want to scare them) immediately. Luna is an absolute delight, and we've loved having her here this week.

And by day two, she had found Duke's spot. 😍

Happy weekend, friends!
