Late last week I received the wonderful news that a young woman with whom I'd worked for many years had been selected as a member of the American Red Cross National Youth Council.
I first met Aparna seven or so years ago, when she was 15 years old and I was a recent transplant to the Washtenaw County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Aparna joined the Chapter as a volunteer, and in my position as the Blood Services Volunteer Coordinator and then the Director of Volunteer Resources I was able to watch her grow from a youth volunteer into a Washtenaw County Chapter, University of Michigan Red Cross Club, and community leader.
A position on the American Red Cross National Youth Council is an INCREDIBLE honor, and I am ridiculously proud of Aparna. Read more about the NYC and Aparna's road to achieve her goals here.
