My Roots: There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe…Part Two

Last summer, Hallie had the opportunity to leave her mark on a popular but somewhat mysterious Madison landmark that had left its mark on me many years prior. We knew Hallie's artistic contribution to the Vilas Park Shoe Slide's facade wouldn't last forever - the exterior is repainted every year - but we cherished the memories we made at the playground that day.

Imagine our delight, then, when last month on a walk to the zoo we spotted the Madison Art Museum's Art Cart setting up shop next to the Shoe Slide. Hallie and Lily eagerly donned the required smocks (though Hallie still managed to get permanent paint on her hair bow) and followed the volunteer artists' instructions to create their own pink and blue hand-print flowers.

Another artistic contribution to last a year, another memory to last a lifetime.
