Yes, tomatoes are on their way out. And what better way to bid them farewell than to turn them - along with a few peppers, onions, and avocados - into a delicious salsa and guacamole.
I enjoy cooking, and I LOVE to bake, which works out well in our family because even after nearly four years in the same house, Tom doesn't really know his way around our kitchen. Or any kitchen, for that matter.
He does, however, make a mean salsa and a delicious guacamole, and has graciously granted me permission to share his recipes here.
In case you're wondering, in some circles Tom actually is referred to as Taco Tom. The nickname stems from a freshman year victory in a Panchero's burrito eating contest.
