Reading
A number of people I follow on Instagram recommended It's One of Us by J.T. Ellison and it was in fact a great read. The premise was unique, the characters were well developed, the twist surprised me, and while I didn't personally love the ending (you know how I like everything to be tied up with a bow), I can acknowledge that the ending was good from a writing standpoint.
Watching
Hallie and I are thoroughly enjoying the new season - after a many-years hiatus - of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition hosted by Clea and Joanna from The Home Edit.
Tom and I started watching Severance, and WOW, it's a trip so far. We're only about halfway through the first season, but I plan to stick with it. (Tom's already watched season one, but he's kindly rewatching it with me before moving on to season two.)
I'm also circling back around to seasons five and six of Virgin River, binging the fall episodes of Grey's Anatomy and Elsbeth, and trying out the first couple of episodes of Doc.
Listening To
I've listened to a few (they're short) seasons of American Scandal (Season 58 - Challenger Disaster, Season 57 - Lou Pearlman: The Con Man of Pop, and Season 54 - Boeing), and they were all incredibly interesting. Next I'm going to try the seasons about the Houston Astros, Theranos, and an FBI agent-turned-Russian spy.
Following
When it comes to what I follow on social media, I'm trending toward middle-aged female comedians and cats behaving like a$$ holes (it's a whole genre). Falling into the former of those two categories is Alyce Chan | Mom Comedy (@momcomnyc on Instagram), and she's a hoot.
Trying/Using
I bought the Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer and Styler for Hallie, but I've basically stolen it from her at this point. I didn't think I'd even like it, let alone love it as much as I do.
My parents bought the kids these Sharper Image floor chairs for Christmas, and we like them so much that I think we're going to have to round out the two to a set of four. They're extremely comfortable, especially for sitting in front of the fireplace, and Will's will be perfect for a dorm room next year.
We don't have a Diaper Genie anymore, but we do have a Litter Genie! We're only a couple of weeks into using this cat litter disposal system, but so far we're big fans!
I'm finally a person who owns a paper cutter, and I have my friend Crystal, who sometimes carries her giant paper cutter around in a giant purse in case she needs to do projects, to thank. I didn't want a giant one though, so I picked up this somewhat collapsable one from Target and I it's perfect for my paper-cutting needs. I wish I would have made this purchase years ago!
Wearing
File this under "40 and Sad"... I seem to have developed arthritis in one of my thumbs, so I've been sleeping in this thumb brace/support.
Eating/Drinking
It's Lads season, so I'm baking A LOT (thus far I've done funfetti cupcakes with "grass" green frosting and soccer ball ring toppers, fudge brownies with chocolate frosting, chocolate chip cookie bars, and red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and specially-ordered Consol colored sprinkles) and cooking very little. I did give this Tator Tot Casserole a try though (one side with cheese for me and Tom, one side without cheese Will and Hallie), and everyone liked it.
