We go again!
District play for the Lads is underway, and honestly, I'm just so grateful Will has been able to play. Last fall we truly believed - for a period of a couple of weeks - that his soccer career was over, and then once we'd made it over that hurdle, we still didn't know if he would make it back on the field for his senior season. I'm much more anxious and fearful (injury-wise) now than I've been in years past, but sometimes, if it's cold enough or raining really hard, I forget about being anxious and fearful for a little while. 😂
The Lads had a solid preseason, with their only loss coming against back-to-back 6A State Champions Katy Seven Lakes. I haven't seen such an impressive high school team (every player was solid, and six of their starters play for MLS Next teams) in all four years Will has played high school soccer. The best part, though, was that we hung with them - scoring THREE goals - until the last 52 seconds, when they scored to break the tie and make it 4-3. It was an incredible game.
I'm hoping and praying for a great season for all of our Lads. If you'd to join us in the stands, the schedule is below. Tom will make you a custom, 3D-printed matraca if you come!
Oh, and for Will's grandmas, grandpas, and soccer-loving family members, here's the link to this year's Lads album. 😉

My player of the week - chosen by his teammates - deserves his own high five.

We're less than a week away from the opening of High School Musical! I think it's going to be a great show, and we'd love to have you in the stands audience (it's hard to keep track of which events I'm inviting people to these days 😉) next weekend!
Tickets can be purchased here. Scroll down past The Drowsy Chaperone to select High School Musical show dates and times.

Last weekend was lovely - our first commitment-free Saturday and Sunday of the year and our last before the craziness of Lads season and dance competition/spring showcase prep began. I didn't do anything remarkable, but I did binge watch How I Met Your Mother with Hallie, clean out our sock drawers, bake a pineapple upside down cake, and prepare for the arctic blast that was supposedly heading our way.
We also enjoyed our day off (from school - Will had soccer, and Hallie had seven hours of musical rehearsal followed by dance) on Monday...and then Monday turned into a "snow day" on Tuesday...and then Tuesday turned into a "snow day" on Wednesday. It ended up being a very long and weird weekend, but I'm always happy when I don't have to set an alarm!

Midway through out walk, we stopped at the park and relaxed on the (teeny tiny) slides at the park for a half hour just talking. It was glorious. |

My friend Kristen was in town for the weekend, and I was thrilled we were able to fit in a quick hug and chat in the school parking lot on Friday as well as brunch and a Lads-related project on Monday. She's too far away, but she's been able to come back and visit often, and I'm so grateful for that!
Happy weekend, friends!
