High Five for Friday (6.5.20)

These High Five posts aren't getting any easier, that's for sure. In many ways, every day feels darker than the one before. 

I wanted to let you know that while I have not yet commented on the racial crisis in our country, I will. Or perhaps better put, I will share stories, advice, and guidance from other individuals...those who are more educated and more qualified than me. But for the time being, I am listening, learning, and reaching out to those who need to know that I am an ally and an advocate.

WHAT HAPPENED HERE?!

Only 17 months separate the photo of the boy on the left and the photo of the man-child on the right.

While I desperately wish I could slow down the pace at which this kiddo is growing up (occasionally I even wish to rewind his life all the way back to his preschool days), I am tremendously grateful for the "bonus" time I've had with him these last three months. Had we not ended up stuck at home, his weekdays would have included 6:30am track practices, school until 4pm, homework and cello practice until 6pm, and soccer practices until 9:30pm three nights a week and his "spare time" would have been spent at the park playing basketball, football, and soccer with friends. Instead, he was home, giving me a glimpse - whether he wanted to or not - into his organizational skills, his likes and dislikes, and both what he's willing to work hard for and what he's willing cut corners on. I think I knew Will fairly well and that we had a good relationship (as far as relationships between moms and 13-year-old sons go) before quarantine, but now I feel ever better about our connection.

Watching Cullen teach Kaylee and Will his Tae Kwon Do form brought a huge smile to my face. Cullen was so proud, and the big kids were great sports.

Summer hair, don't care!

Coordinating swimsuits for these besties - it's a little thing, but it brought a lot of happiness to the three of them and their moms. I hope they never stop wanting to match...

GO FOR LAUNCH in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...lift off!
